THE GRATEFUL DEAD COVERS PROJECT

Fans of the Grateful Dead have an opportunity to show off their musical chops in a new contest recently posted on Dead.net as part of the Dead Covers Project. The contest rules are simple - all video submissions must contain a song either written or recorded by The Grateful Dead, however, the interpretation of the song is up to the performer. And all submissions must be uploaded to YouTube and tagged "DeadCoversProject". For those who want to participate but are not musically inclined - visit youtube.com/gratefuldead and "like" your favorites. The five winning videos will be announced in March and the artists will be profiled on Dead.net and in the 2012 edition of the Grateful Dead Almanac.

The Grateful Dead Movie is being re-released, for one night only, this coming Wednesday (April 20). The movie, which was first released in 1977, now includes never-before-seen interviews with the late Jerry Garcia. Click here for a list of participating theaters.
